IAV Quántico Petroleum Services, S.A.Thermal well recovery

Cyclic steam injection for mature wells in the Orinoco Belt

Cyclic steam injection reduces the viscosity of heavy and extra-heavy crude, restores output from wells that are currently marginal and extends the productive life of the reservoir. We cover the full service cycle: on-site steam generation, feedwater conditioning, production testing and certification, and the logistics that sustain it.

+10,000Mature wells

Universe of wells in the Orinoco Oil Belt suitable for cyclic steam injection (IAV), across various production types.

1x – 5xProduction increase

Increase in well output after the intervention, depending on the characteristics of the reservoir treated.

14 – 16Months of effect

Duration of the benefit per intervention; it is the period in which the operator recovers and multiplies its investment.

INTEVEPEndorsed technology

Mature, proven technology endorsed by INTEVEP, currently applied by Orinoco Belt operators within their production increase plans.

01

Cyclic steam injection

The service that restores the well's output.

Trailer-mounted steam generators deployed on location that produce the high-quality steam injected into the well. The heat reduces the viscosity of heavy and extra-heavy crude, and the formation starts producing again.

  • 30 MM BTU per hour trailer-mounted generators, for deployment at any location in the Orinoco Belt
  • Full intervention cycle: injection, soak and return to production
  • Applicable to the different well types of the Orinoco Oil Belt
  • Restoration of output from marginal wells and extension of the reservoir's productive life
  • Mature technology, endorsed by INTEVEP and in use by operators in the area

Feedwater treatment

Without on-spec water there is no sustained steam.

Trailer-mounted treatment trains that condition the feedwater to the quality required for steam generation. One plant per generator, to operate autonomously at any location.

  • Water conditioning to the quality required by the steam generator
  • One treatment plant configured for each deployed generator
  • Autonomous operation at locations without treated-water infrastructure
  • Protection of the generating equipment: off-spec water is the main cause of failure
  • Trailer-mounted, mobilized together with the rest of the equipment train

Mobile well testing

The technical evidence of the production increase.

Mobile well testing units with separator and integrated process line. They measure and certify the well's output before and after the intervention: it is the record that supports the result of the service before the operator.

  • Production testing and certification with separator and integrated process line
  • Measurement of well output before and after the intervention
  • Documented production differential for each well treated
  • Mobile units, deployable at the well location itself
  • Without certified measurement there is no auditable result: the record is part of the service, not an extra

Transport, lifting and mobilization

The logistics that sustain field operations.

The equipment train is useless if it doesn't arrive. We mobilize generators, treatment plants and testing units to the location, rig them up and down on site, and transport the operating crew.

  • Tractor-trailers to move generators, treatment plants and testing units
  • 29-tonne crane trucks for rigging equipment up and down on location
  • 4x4 double-cab pickups for field supervision and support
  • Personnel transport units to and from the locations
  • Mobilization to any location in the Orinoco Oil Belt
